Physical production in Japan. Two studios owned by Toei Company, Ltd.

- Toei Kyoto Studios, Uzumasa, Kyoto. Founded 1926. Home of jidaigeki (period drama). 11 sound stages, Japan's largest permanent outdoor backlot (Edo period streets), Japan's largest dirt floor stage for water and terrain effects, Stage 11 at 1,062 m² (third largest in Japan), master artisans (swords, armor, wigs, kimono, calligraphy), elite stunt team, 200 in house actors. Credits include The Makanai (Netflix), Rurouni Kenshin, The Legend & Butterfly, Memoirs of a Geisha, Tora! Tora! Tora!, Battles Without Honor and Humanity, The Street Fighter, Shadow Warriors, Muromachi Outsiders.
- Toei Tokyo Studios, Oizumi, Tokyo. Founded 1935. About 350 productions a year. 7 sound stages, 2,500 m² art department, Japan's only 270 degree curved LED volume (Stage 11), Black Studio with a USC ICT Light Stage, 48 camera Vicon motion capture, VFX and CG (Unreal Engine, Toei FCS facial capture), post production, casting. Credits include Battle Royale, The Bullet Train, Poppoya, The Blood of Wolves, Hayabusa, The First Slam Dunk (mocap), Monster Hunter: Wilds (mocap).

Incentives: JLOX+ (Japanese Government location subsidy for large scale international productions); Toei case by case investment as financial backer, production service partner, or Japanese distributor. Support: visas for foreign crew, production offices, accommodation, transport.
